Gwyneth Paltrow takes on the role of Cindy Lou Who in her household. The Goop founder recently admitted that while she and her kids Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19—whom she shares with ex Chris Martin—are big on the holly jolly spirit, her husband Brad Falchuk is less likely to indulge.
“I love Christmas,” Gwyneth explained in the Dec. 2 episode of The Goop Podcast. “My husband is a little bit of a Grinch, so he’s the opposite, but I love the decorations, the Frank Sinatra Christmas album. I really get into the holiday spirit. I love decorating.”
Indeed, the Marty Supreme star doesn’t let Brad’s schedule full of wallowing in self-pity and dinner with himself get in the way of her holiday plans—and she’ll even indulge in his admittedly odd requests to get him into the holiday spirit.

“We never really deviate that much,” Gwyneth—who tied the knot with Brad in 2018—explained. “We once added fried chicken to the menu, which I thought was weird but Brad was into the idea. This year, I think we’re going traditional.”
As for when it comes to navigating festivities with her ex? Over 10 years after she and Chris consciously uncoupled, the Oscar winner has it down to a science.
“If the inclination is to do it together as a family and whatever permutation that family is currently in, I think it’s a really nice thing to do,” Gwyneth explained in response to a listener’s question about navigating the holidays after divorce. “But not at the expense of one’s feeling of comfort and boundaries.”
Of course, she admitted that navigating a blended family is not a one size fits all situation.
“I think it’s really individual,” the 53-year-old shared. “Are you okay being a little uncomfortable and pushing yourself into a new area and focusing on love and forgiveness and togetherness?”
