Xiaomi has unveiled what it describes as the most advanced robot vacuum yet in its Mijia smart home lineup, introducing a device that combines unusually high suction power with robotic hardware designed to navigate the small obstacles that often frustrate automated cleaners.
The new Mi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 Max arrives as the company’s latest flagship cleaning robot, equipped with a 35,000Pa suction system that Xiaomi says is the strongest currently offered within its ecosystem.
That level of suction places the model among the most powerful robotic cleaners Xiaomi has released, reflecting the company’s push to position its smart home products as premium devices rather than entry-level appliances.
The robot pairs this suction capability with a complex navigation system driven by artificial intelligence and multiple onboard cameras. Xiaomi says the machine uses a triple-camera vision system that enables panoramic obstacle detection while mapping indoor environments.
Through that system, the vacuum is able to identify as many as 280 different objects and recognize 47 types of dirt, allowing the device to adjust cleaning behavior depending on what it encounters on the floor.
A Cleaning Robot Designed To Move Like A Machine
Much of the engineering effort appears focused on solving a long-standing challenge for robot vacuums: reaching tight spaces and navigating uneven household environments.
To address that, Xiaomi has equipped the device with triple robotic cleaning arms designed for edge sweeping, edge mopping, and corner cleaning. The arms extend around furniture legs, wall edges, and narrow corners where traditional circular vacuums often struggle.
The robot also introduces bionic dual robotic legs, an unusual design choice intended to help the machine move over small obstacles.
According to Xiaomi, the legs allow the vacuum to cross steps or raised surfaces up to six centimeters high while still sliding into spaces with a clearance of only 9.3 centimeters.
Alongside its mechanical design, the machine performs several cleaning functions simultaneously. It can mop, scrape, and vacuum in one pass while a built-in water system keeps the mop continuously rinsed during operation.
A 16-hole water outlet system distributes water evenly across the mop, helping maintain consistent floor cleaning while the device is in motion.
Hair tangling, another common issue for robotic vacuums, is addressed through a dual anti-tangle setup. The system combines a hair-cutting main brush with specially designed side brushes that reduce the amount of hair wrapped around the rollers.
AI Vision And Smart Home Integration
Beyond cleaning performance, Xiaomi has positioned the device as part of a broader smart home environment.
The vacuum connects to the Mi Home mobile app, allowing remote control, scheduling, and monitoring. It also supports Xiaomi’s Xiao Ai voice assistant, enabling hands-free commands for users already operating within the company’s connected device ecosystem.
The built-in camera system adds another function that moves beyond floor cleaning. Xiaomi says owners can use the camera to monitor pets while away from home and even conduct remote video calls through the assistant interface.
The device also integrates with Xiaomi’s Surge Smart Connect system, allowing coordination with other smart home devices connected to the Mi Home platform.
Pricing And Availability In China
Xiaomi has launched the Mi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 Max in China in two configurations.
The standard water-tank version carries an official price of 6,599 yuan, though the launch price has been set lower at 5,863 yuan. With government appliance subsidies applied, the effective purchase price drops to about 4,899 yuan, roughly equivalent to 680 US dollars.
A second version that includes a built-in water supply and drainage system is priced slightly higher. That model lists at 6,999 yuan, launches at 6,451 yuan, and falls to around 5,399 yuan after subsidies.
These reduced prices apply only within China under a national appliance subsidy program designed to encourage consumer spending on electronics and smart home equipment.
For manufacturers such as Xiaomi, the program has helped make high-end devices more affordable while intensifying competition in the rapidly growing smart appliance market.
The Mi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 Max reflects that environment, combining increasingly complex hardware with aggressive pricing aimed at attracting consumers seeking automated home cleaning solutions.
