Early design leaks around Apple’s next Pro iPhones suggest a familiar pattern is set to continue, with small but visible refinements rather than a wholesale redesign. CAD-based renders circulating online point to a device that stays close to its current identity, while quietly adjusting key elements tied to performance and usability.
The most immediate change appears on the front. The Dynamic Island cutout, introduced with the iPhone 14 Pro, is shown to be narrower in width, though slightly taller. It’s a subtle shift, but one that would be hard to miss in everyday use given its central placement on the display. The adjustment is believed to stem from internal rearrangement, possibly moving some Face ID or Touch ID-related components beneath the screen.
If that holds true, it would mark the first notable refinement to the feature since its debut. Apple has so far taken a measured approach to front-facing hardware, prioritising reliability over aggressively hiding sensors, and this move appears consistent with that thinking.
Changes around the back of the device are less obvious at first glance but still meaningful. The rear panel may adopt a more unified finish, blending the frame and glass into a smoother look compared to the current two-tone styling. Meanwhile, early dummy units suggest the camera bump could become thicker, hinting at hardware upgrades, including a possible mechanical variable aperture system.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max, in particular, could see a physical increase. Reports indicate a slightly thicker and heavier build, potentially exceeding 240 grams. That added space may be used for a larger battery, estimated in the range of 5,100mAh to 5,200mAh, which would represent a notable capacity bump.
Colour options are also being tested, with Apple reportedly exploring a mix of restrained and more expressive finishes. A deep burgundy shade, described as Dark Cherry, could stand out among more familiar tones like Light Blue, Dark Grey, and Silver. Other options, including Coffee Brown and Deep Purple, are said to be under consideration during early development stages.
Taken together, the direction appears deliberate. Rather than redefining the device visually, Apple seems to be refining the experience through incremental hardware adjustments. A slightly smaller cutout, a more capable camera system, and a larger battery all point toward practical improvements rather than dramatic change.
