Appleâs next iPhone launch cycle is already beginning to take shape through early supply chain reports, with new details now emerging about the color direction planned for the companyâs 2026 flagship models.

According to information attributed to a source familiar with Appleâs supply chain, the company is currently preparing several new finishes for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The report also mentions a foldable iPhone model that is now rumored to carry the name âiPhone Ultra.â
Among the color options under development, a finish described as âDark Cherryâ appears set to become the signature look for the Pro lineup this year. The shade is said to lean closer to a deep wine tone rather than a bright red, marking a noticeable shift from the more vivid Cosmic Orange introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro generation.
Reports of Apple testing a darker red finish had surfaced earlier through industry leakers, including Bloombergâs Mark Gurman. The latest details suggest the company may have refined that concept into a more subdued color intended to stand apart without the brighter appearance associated with previous special-edition finishes.
The Dark Cherry option is expected to headline the iPhone 18 Pro range alongside a refreshed set of additional colors. Supply chain information cited in the report also points to Apple experimenting with a Light Blue version resembling the current Mist Blue finish available on the base iPhone 17 models.
Another finish under consideration is described as a dark gray variant. A silver option similar to the existing Pro models is also reportedly in development.
As with previous iPhone cycles, Apple is expected to retire the current generationâs color lineup once the new devices arrive. That would likely include the discontinuation of Cosmic Orange, which became one of the most visually distinctive finishes in the iPhone 17 Pro range.
The report did not include further details about materials, textures, or whether the finishes would differ between the standard Pro and Pro Max models. No official confirmation has come from Apple, which traditionally keeps hardware details confidential ahead of launch events.
Even so, color decisions often attract unusual attention around new iPhone releases because they tend to reflect broader design choices across the lineup. For many buyers, finish options become one of the most immediate visual differences between annual upgrades, especially in years where external hardware changes remain relatively restrained.
