The mood around Fridayâs SmackDown shifted several times over the course of the night, but few moments drew more attention than the brief exit â and sudden return â of Drew McIntyre.

Earlier in the show, McIntyre appeared visibly frustrated following the recent loss of the WWE Championship. The Scottish wrestler placed much of that blame on SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, arguing that Aldis should never have granted Cody Rhodes another opportunity at the title.
The tension traces back several weeks. McIntyre had captured the championship from Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match, a victory that came with unintended involvement from Jacob Fatu. In the weeks that followed, McIntyre repeatedly interfered in situations involving both Fatu and Rhodes, preventing either man from securing another title opportunity.
The conflict escalated again during the Elimination Chamber match when McIntyre interfered and cost Rhodes a chance to challenge for the title. In response, Aldis awarded Rhodes a championship match anyway. That decision set up a brutal contest on last weekâs SmackDown.
During that bout, Fatu appeared at ringside and distracted McIntyre at a crucial moment. Rhodes capitalized on the opening and regained the championship, ending McIntyreâs reign.
Fridayâs broadcast opened with McIntyre still fuming over that outcome. His confrontation with Fatu quickly became heated. McIntyre accused him of meddling in the title picture and derailing his championship run.
The exchange ended abruptly when McIntyre announced he was quitting SmackDown and walked out.
The declaration did not hold for long.
Later in the night, Fatu returned to the ring for a singles match against Trick Williams. The contest was underway when McIntyre unexpectedly appeared again. He attacked Fatu from behind, slamming him into the ring post and leaving him unable to respond.
With Fatu already hurt from the attack, Williams moved quickly to secure the victory.
The ambush marked McIntyreâs first appearance since declaring he was finished with the show only hours earlier. His actions left Fatu laid out at ringside and raised immediate questions about the situation unfolding between the two competitors.

By the end of the broadcast, the confrontation remained unresolved, but McIntyreâs brief exit had already turned into another chapter in the escalating conflict surrounding the former champion.
