Framework Computer confirmed Thursday that shipping of the Framework Laptop 13 Pro has been pushed back by approximately one month, with the modular laptop manufacturer citing component supply timing as the reason for the delay.
The company said orders that had been expected to ship in late June would now begin fulfilling in July, with the bulk of the initial production run scheduled for the second half of that month. Customers who pre-ordered the device have been notified by email. No price changes or order cancellations are required.
The Framework 13 Pro is the latest iteration of the company’s modular laptop design, which allows users to swap out the battery, ports, display, and even the motherboard without specialist tools. The 13 Pro model targets the professional and developer segment with higher-performance internals than the standard 13-inch model.
Framework has built a loyal following among users who prioritise repairability and long-term hardware value over the sealed, non-upgradeable designs that dominate the premium laptop market. The company’s approach is positioned as a direct alternative to laptops from Apple, Dell, and HP that require manufacturer service for most internal repairs.
Component availability for modular laptop designs presents unique challenges. Unlike major manufacturers who can secure volume supply contracts that guarantee delivery timelines, Framework works with smaller production runs that leave it more exposed to component lead time variability.
The company said the delay affects only the Laptop 13 Pro model. Other products in the Framework lineup, including the Laptop 16 and the smaller Framework Laptop 12, are shipping on their previously announced schedules.
Framework did not specify which components caused the delay, citing supplier confidentiality. Industry observers noted that the delay coincides with broader component market pressures driven in part by the US-Iran conflict, which has raised energy and logistics costs for electronics manufacturers across the supply chain.
Framework’s full product lineup, specifications, and pre-order status are available at the Framework Computer website. The modular laptop segment Framework competes in is being reshaped by Intel’s new Project Firefly reference design initiative. The broader laptop market context is covered in analysis of the Apple macOS 27 Golden Gate announcement and competing devices including the Xiaomi 17T Pro.
