Rockstar Games confirmed on June 18 that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI open on June 25, with the game launching November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC version was not announced as part of the initial launch window, following the same pattern Rockstar used with GTA V, which arrived on console before coming to PC more than a year later.
The November 19 date puts Rockstar in the holiday gaming window without landing on the most congested release week of the year. Six weeks before Christmas gives the game enough time on shelves to benefit from both day-one sales and the gift purchase volume that gaming’s biggest launches depend on. The positioning looks deliberate and smart.
GTA VI was announced with its first trailer in December 2023, and the long build-up since has sustained a level of consistent search and social interest that few entertainment properties of any kind have managed to match. The confirmation of a specific release date and pre-order date shifts the conversation from anticipation into concrete commercial reality.
Sony and Microsoft have both confirmed partnerships with Rockstar for the launch. PlayStation 5 players will receive a pre-order bonus including in-game currency and a limited edition cosmetic pack. Xbox Series X|S players receive a comparable offer. Full pre-order details go live on the Rockstar Games website on June 25.
The game is set in Vice City and features dual protagonists for the first time in the main series, including a female lead named Lucia. The first trailer showed a level of environmental detail significantly beyond anything in the previous game. Rockstar has said little else publicly since, which has only intensified the interest.
Industry analysts have projected first-year revenues that would exceed the box office performance of the most commercially successful films. Whether that proves accurate will become clear by the end of the holiday sales season.
