Rockstar Games is preparing to open pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI on June 25, marking the next major milestone in the long-awaited launch of one of the gaming industry’s most closely watched releases.

The company has confirmed that the game will arrive on November 19, 2026, following a series of delays that extended development beyond its original target. The latest date brings an end to months of uncertainty around the launch schedule and gives players a clearer timeline for the release of the next entry in the blockbuster franchise.
While Rockstar has announced the pre-order date, the studio has not yet disclosed when pre-orders will become available in specific regions. More details are expected to accompany the rollout, including information on digital and physical editions, pricing structures and any bonuses offered to early purchasers.
The November launch date follows a lengthy production cycle that has seen the project move through multiple timelines. Grand Theft Auto VI was initially expected to arrive in autumn 2025 before being delayed to May 2026. The game was later shifted again to its current late-November release window as Rockstar continued work on the title.
Neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has announced official pricing. However, industry estimates have pointed to a higher-than-usual retail price for the standard edition, with some analysts suggesting it could reach around USD 100. Reports have also indicated that the game’s development budget has surpassed USD 1 billion, placing it among the most expensive entertainment productions ever undertaken.
At launch, Grand Theft Auto VI will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Rockstar has not announced a release date for PC players, and there has been no confirmation regarding support for Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.
The new title shifts the series to Leonida, a fictional state closely modeled on Florida. Players will return to Vice City, a location that remains one of the franchise’s most recognizable settings. The expanded world also includes nearby wetlands, beaches and urban areas intended to reflect a broader regional landscape.
The story follows Jason and Lucia, a criminal duo whose partnership forms the center of the game’s narrative. Lucia’s role is particularly notable as she becomes the franchise’s first playable female protagonist in the modern 3D era. According to the game’s premise, the pair become entangled in the criminal underworld after a major heist goes wrong.
Development of the sequel has unfolded under intense public attention, in part because of the extraordinary success of Grand Theft Auto V. Since its release in 2013, the previous installment has sold roughly 230 million copies worldwide, making it one of the most commercially successful video games ever released.
Production also faced a widely publicized disruption when early development footage appeared online following a cyberattack on Rockstar’s systems. The studio later said the breach did not permanently derail development, and work on the project continued.
