A new report circulating from China suggests that Honor may be preparing an unusually large battery for one of its upcoming mid-range smartphones. The device in question, the Honor X80 GT, is now rumored to carry a 13,080 mAh battery, a figure that would stand far above the capacities typically seen in mainstream smartphones today.

The claim has surfaced through industry chatter rather than official confirmation, but it reflects a pattern that has recently become more visible in Honor’s product lineup. The company has been steadily increasing battery capacities in several devices, particularly those positioned in the mid-range segment.
Earlier reports indicated that the standard Honor X80 could arrive with a 10,000 mAh battery. That alone would represent a notable jump from the previous generation. The Honor X70, released last July, already carried an 8,300 mAh battery, which was widely regarded as unusually large for a device in its class.
The rumored specification for the X80 GT, if accurate, would take that progression much further. A 13,080 mAh battery would place the device in a category rarely explored by mainstream smartphone brands.
Recent devices from the company hint at a broader direction. Honor has already introduced models such as the Honor Win with a 10,000 mAh battery, while the Honor Power 2 pushes slightly higher with a 10,080 mAh cell. Those figures suggest the company has been experimenting with higher battery capacities, potentially enabled by newer silicon-carbon battery technology.
This direction contrasts with the more conservative approach followed by several larger smartphone makers, where battery capacities generally remain around the 5,000 mAh range.
For now, the Honor X80 GT remains largely unknown beyond the battery rumor. No details about its processor, display, cameras, or other hardware have surfaced in the latest report.
The previous model offers a reference point. The Honor X70 debuted with a 6.79-inch AMOLED display supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset. It shipped with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 128GB to 512GB.
On the camera side, the device included a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization, alongside an 8-megapixel front camera.
Whether the next model will expand on those specifications is not yet clear. With the X80 series still unannounced, the rumored battery capacity stands as the only detail currently drawing attention.

Until the company provides official confirmation, the information remains speculative. Still, the figures being discussed underline a noticeable shift in how some smartphone makers are approaching battery design in the mid-range market.
