Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro is shaping up to be one of the most significant upgrades in the Pro line in years. Supply chain reports and leaks compiled by MacRumors and AppleInsider this month point to four key changes arriving when Apple holds its expected September 2026 event.

The most discussed upgrade is the shift to Apple’s A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s second-generation 2nm process. Earlier iPhones used a 3nm node. The 2nm process is expected to deliver around 15 percent faster CPU performance and roughly 30 percent better power efficiency compared to the A19 in the iPhone 17 Pro. Apple has not confirmed these figures, but multiple supply chain sources cited by AppleInsider and The Bridge Chronicle back the transition.
The Dynamic Island is also expected to shrink. Face ID’s flood illuminator is reportedly moving beneath the display on the Pro models, leaving only a single pinhole cutout for the front camera. The change would make the Dynamic Island visually closer to a small dot than the pill-shaped cutout on current models. Under-display Face ID has been rumoured for several iPhone generations. Leaked renders published by multiple outlets this month show the pinhole design.
Four colours are reportedly confirmed for the iPhone 18 Pro line: Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver. Dark Cherry is described as a deep wine-red and replaces the Cosmic Orange option from the iPhone 17 Pro. The rear MagSafe panel is also said to have a more frosted and seamless appearance, removing the two-tone look present on current Pro models.
Battery capacity has leaked separately. According to Notebookcheck, the iPhone 18 Pro will carry a 4,288 mAh cell in eSIM-only markets, up slightly from 4,252 mAh in the iPhone 17 Pro. The gain is modest, but analysts say the A20 chip’s efficiency improvements will deliver meaningfully longer real-world battery life despite the small capacity increase.
Apple has not announced any of these details. All specifications above are drawn from leaks and supply chain analyst reports, and the final shipping product may differ. The company typically holds its annual iPhone event in the second week of September. Pre-orders usually open within days of the announcement, with devices shipping one to two weeks later. Apple’s foldable iPhone is also expected at the same event, making September 2026 one of the busiest product launches in the company’s history.
The iPhone 18 Pro will also reportedly include a new C2 modem with satellite internet connectivity improvements and enhanced emergency SOS features. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is set to arrive in July, giving Apple’s September lineup strong competition heading into the holiday season. Android 17 also launched recently, keeping the smartphone software competition active. Full details will only be confirmed at Apple’s official event. MacRumors maintains a full running summary of all confirmed and rumoured iPhone 18 Pro specifications.
