Search interest in Jed York surged after the San Francisco 49ers owner pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges in Ohio, closing the criminal case while leaving a separate NFL review unresolved.

York was arrested in East Palestine over the weekend. Court records cited by the Associated Press show that an initial prostitution-related charge was amended to disorderly conduct. He also pleaded no contest to possessing criminal tools, a charge prosecutors tied to the use of his phone to answer an undercover online advertisement.

The court sentenced York to one day in jail on each offense, to run concurrently, and credited him with time already served. He was fined $1,150 and released after posting a $5,000 bond. The plea agreement also returned his cellphone and directed $160 that had been seized to a regional human-trafficking task force.

The legal outcome does not end the matter for the NFL. The league said it was aware of the arrest and would review the case under its personal-conduct policy, according to the AP report. The 49ers said they would not comment because the legal matter had been resolved.

That distinction explains why the query remains prominent: York’s plea is a completed court event, but the timing and result of any league action are still unknown. Neither the AP report nor the Washington Post’s account establishes a suspension, fine or other NFL penalty at this stage.
