The New York Knicks travel to San Antonio on Saturday for Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals, holding a 3-1 series lead over the Spurs after one of the most remarkable games in championship history. A win in Texas would give New York its first NBA title since 1973, ending one of the longest championship droughts in American professional sport.

Game 4 in New York on Thursday ended in a 107-106 Knicks victory already being written into basketball legend. Trailing by 29 points at halftime, the Knicks mounted a furious comeback capped by an OG Anunoby jumper with 1.4 seconds remaining. The deficit overcome was the largest in the history of the NBA Finals.
Anunoby finished with 34 points, including 22 in the final quarter. Jalen Brunson added 26 points and 9 assists across 48 minutes, carrying much of the offensive load through a difficult first half. Several analysts called it the finest individual Finals performance since LeBron James‘s 41-point output for Cleveland in 2018.
The Spurs, who must win Game 5 to extend the series, will try to respond at the AT&T Center, where they have one of the better home records in the league this season. Victor Wembanyama dominated much of Game 4 despite the loss, putting up 38 points and blocking five shots. The 22-year-old French centre has averaged 31 points and 12 rebounds per game through the Finals.
Knicks fans flooded Madison Square Garden’s surrounding streets on Thursday night after the comeback, with celebrations continuing into the early hours. The city’s last championship year was 1994 when the Knicks reached the Finals before losing to the Houston Rockets.
Game 5 tips off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday and will air on ABC. Earlier coverage of the Game 4 comeback has full details. The NBA’s official site carries live series updates. See also the Women’s T20 World Cup and French Open coverage for the broader June sports calendar.
