Nissan Tekton Launches in India at Rs 10.49 Lakh

By Tarek HasanJuly 10, 20262 Mins Read

Nissan India unveiled the Tekton SUV today, priced from Rs 10.49 lakh ($12,600 USD). The newcomer targets the mid-size sport-utility segment, competing directly with compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

The Tekton arrives as Nissan’s push to reclaim market share in India’s booming SUV category. Sales have slowed for the Japanese automaker in recent years, but the Tekton addresses a gap in its lineup between affordable small cars and larger crossovers.

Design and Positioning

Nissan describes the Tekton as a “lifestyle” SUV. The proportions are straightforward—a boxy profile with modest overhangs. Inside, the cabin offers a 10.8-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and climate control in base trims. Fabric seats ship as standard; leather is optional.

The Tekton measures 4,275mm long and 1,770mm wide, placing it in the sweet spot between India’s compact and mid-size segments. Ground clearance stands at 200mm, practical for India’s variable road conditions.

Engine and Performance

Two powertrain options are available. A 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 100 horsepower. A 1.5-liter turbo diesel variant generates 110 horsepower. Both pair with five-speed manual transmissions; the petrol engine also offers an optional CVT automatic for added convenience.

Fuel economy claims are competitive. The petrol manual achieves 18.5 kmpl (kilometers per liter), while the diesel version reaches 20.8 kmpl—solid figures for the category.

Price and Variants

Nissan has structured the Tekton into six variants. The base XE petrol sits at Rs 10.49 lakh. The top-spec XV Plus diesel reaches Rs 15.29 lakh. This pricing positions the Tekton below larger competitors like the Kia Seltos while undercutting premium offerings from Mahindra and Tata.

Indian buyers also have the option of Nissan’s preferred finance schemes. The company is offering 0% interest on select tenors, along with warranty coverage up to five years or 100,000 km—standard for the segment.

The Tekton will ship from Nissan’s plant in Oragadum, Tamil Nadu. First deliveries are expected within 30 days of order confirmation.
