Nubia has quietly expanded its gaming-focused smartphone lineup with the introduction of the Nubia Neo 5 GT, a mid-range device designed to maintain stable performance during long gaming sessions. The phone arrives with an unusual hardware feature for its price segment: a built-in cooling fan that actively pushes air across internal components.
The device uses what the company calls a Through-Flow Duct cooling system. Fresh air is drawn through the phone and directed toward the processor and battery area, helping to manage heat during heavy workloads. While active cooling systems have appeared in high-end gaming phones before, Nubiaâs decision to include one in a mid-range model signals a shift toward more sustained performance in lower price tiers.
Nubia is positioning the Neo 5 GT as a device built for gamers who want reliable frame rates without stepping into flagship pricing. The handset carries a retail price of âŦ399.
Hardware Designed Around Sustained Performance
At the center of the Neo 5 GT sits MediaTekâs Dimensity 7400 chipset. Nubia pairs the processor with LPDDR Max memory rated at 6400 Mbps and its in-house NeoTurbo Engine software, which the company says helps balance power usage and performance over extended gaming sessions.
The front of the phone is dominated by a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. High refresh panels have become common in gaming phones, but they remain less typical in the mid-range category.
Nubia has also included Neo Triggers 5.0 shoulder buttons designed for mobile gaming control. These triggers register inputs at 550 Hz and are meant to replicate the feel of physical controller buttons during gameplay.
Another feature, called Magic Touch 3.0, focuses on touchscreen responsiveness. According to the company, it improves recognition when fingers are wet, a scenario that can affect input accuracy during long gaming sessions.
Battery capacity stands at 6,210 mAh using a dual-cell design. Charging speeds vary by region. The device supports up to 80 W charging, although the European version is capped at 45 W.
Software Focus On AI-Driven Gaming Tools
On the software side, Nubia is introducing AI Game Space 5.0, a gaming environment that organizes performance tools and gameplay features in one interface.
The system includes an AI assistant named Copilot Demi 2.0. Nubia says the assistant can provide real-time coaching during games, assist with in-game communication, and offer automated replies in chat.
The company has also confirmed that the Neo 5 GT will be joined by other models in the same lineup, including the more affordable Nubia Neo 5 and a larger Neo 5 Max variant.
The Neo 5 GT reflects a broader change in how smartphone makers approach gaming devices. Instead of relying solely on raw processing power, manufacturers are beginning to focus more heavily on thermal stability.
If Nubiaâs approach proves effective, features such as micro-fans and airflow ducts may gradually move beyond niche gaming models and into more mainstream devices.
For now, the Neo 5 GT stands as an attempt to bring sustained gaming performance to a price bracket where thermal management has traditionally been limited.
