Raja Shivaji continued its steady theatrical run on its ninth day in cinemas, adding another ₹5.60 crore net in India on Saturday and taking its total domestic collection to ₹61.45 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.

The historical drama, directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, released on May 1 and opened strongly at the box office with ₹11.35 crore on day one. The film maintained momentum through its first weekend, collecting ₹10.55 crore on Saturday and ₹12 crore on Sunday before settling into expected weekday declines.
Despite the usual post-weekend slowdown, the film managed to sustain a stable run through the week. Collections stood at ₹5.60 crore on Monday, followed by ₹4.90 crore on Tuesday. Earnings then held relatively steady with ₹4.25 crore on Wednesday and ₹4 crore on Thursday. On Friday, the film earned ₹3.20 crore before seeing another upward movement on Saturday.
The Marathi version has reportedly performed considerably better than the Hindi release, emerging as the stronger contributor to the film’s overall box office numbers. The response has helped the film remain stable even after the initial release surge.
The film faced competition from Ek Din, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, though the clash appears to have had limited impact on Raja Shivaji’s theatrical performance. While Raja Shivaji maintained its hold at the ticket counters, Ek Din struggled to gain traction with audiences.
Alongside Riteish Deshmukh, the film features an ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi and Amole Gupte. Riteish and Genelia portray Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Saibai in the film.
One talking point among viewers has been the special appearance by Salman Khan, which has reportedly drawn strong reactions in theatres. The film also marks the acting debut of Riteish and Genelia’s son, Rahyl.
Produced by Genelia D’Souza and Jyoti Deshpande, Raja Shivaji had a long development journey before reaching theatres. The project was first announced in 2016, revived in 2019, and later delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic before finally moving ahead again in 2023.
Riteish Deshmukh recently addressed speculation surrounding the film’s reported ₹100-crore budget during an appearance on The Right Angle. He said discussions around production costs were largely irrelevant to audiences and maintained that viewers should focus on the cinematic experience rather than financial figures attached to the project.

As the film enters its second weekend, attention remains on whether the sustained occupancy and strong Marathi-language response can help it continue its stable run in theatres over the coming days.
