Samsung has introduced two new mid-range smartphones in India, placing a clear emphasis on on-device artificial intelligence as part of its broader software push. The Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G arrive with updates that lean heavily on voice processing, live translation, and camera-assisted computing, reflecting a shift in how everyday smartphone functions are being framed.

A notable addition is Direct Voicemail, a feature designed to handle missed calls without relying on traditional network-based systems. When a call goes unanswered, messages can be recorded and transcribed directly on the device. The processing remains local, which Samsung positions as both a performance and privacy consideration.
Language tools have also been expanded. The updated system can convert spoken words into text and translate them across supported languages, including English, Hindi and Gujarati. For live conversations, Call Captions generate real-time transcriptions during calls, while Voice Focus works in the background to filter out ambient noise in busier environments.
The company is also widening its approach to digital assistants. With One UI 8.5, users are able to move between Bixby, Gemini and Perplexity rather than relying on a single interface. The intent appears to be flexibility, allowing different assistants to handle tasks such as search, summaries or device controls based on user preference.
Hardware changes sit behind these updates. The Galaxy A57 5G is powered by the Exynos 1680 processor, with Samsung citing a 33 per cent improvement in neural processing unit performance. The Galaxy A37 5G uses the Exynos 1480, where the company reports a significantly higher jump in NPU capability compared to its predecessor. These upgrades are intended to support more AI-driven tasks without shifting them to the cloud.
Visual search has also been refined. The latest version of Circle to Search with Google can now identify multiple objects within a single frame, reducing the need to switch between applications.
Camera performance continues to rely on software-driven adjustments. The system automatically manages exposure, detects subjects and enhances detail, while editing tools such as Object Eraser and Best Face have been updated to allow cleaner edits and improved group images.
At the system level, new privacy alerts in One UI 8.5 notify users when apps attempt to access sensitive data, including contacts, images or location information. The alerts are positioned as part of a broader effort to make AI-driven processes more transparent.
The Galaxy A57 5G is priced from Rs 56,999, while the Galaxy A37 5G starts at Rs 41,999 in India. Both devices are now available through Samsungâs official channels, where promotional offers are also being listed.

The updates suggest a steady move toward embedding AI more deeply into routine smartphone use, though much of its impact will likely depend on how consistently these features perform in everyday conditions.
