Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, once known as half-siblings in Game of Thrones, share a strikingly different bond in the dreadful trailer, the first look at the Gothic horror film The Dreadful. The new preview teases a dark, intimate story set far from the world of Westeros.

A Gothic tale of love and curse
In the dreadful trailer, Turner and Harington star as lovers in the latest film from director Natasha Kermani. Set in medieval England, the story follows Anne (Turner) and her domineering mother-in-law Morwen, played by Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, as they struggle to survive on the outskirts of society.
The tension deepens when a man from Anne’s past returns from war, and a curse begins to take shape through a mysterious knight, threatening to destroy them all. Laurence O’Fuarain and Jonathan Howard also appear in key roles, as shown throughout the dreadful trailer.
Creative team and production
The Dreadful is directed by Natasha Kermani, known for Lucky, V/H/S/85, and Abraham’s Boys. Turner and Kermani also serve as producers on the UK-shot film, alongside Luke Daniels, Greg Lauritano, Lucas Jarach, Adam G. Simon, Bull Blumenthal, and Patrick Hibler.
According to the official rating noted with the dreadful trailer, the film is Rated R for “violence/bloody images and a sexual reference.”
Release details
As confirmed alongside the dreadful trailer, The Dreadful will be released in select theaters and on Digital on February 20 via Lionsgate. A new poster has also been unveiled to accompany the trailer.
