Ted Lasso is back. The Apple TV comedy’s fourth season premiered Wednesday, marking the show’s first new episodes since its supposed series finale in 2023.

A new episode will roll out every Wednesday through Oct. 7, bringing the season to a total of 10 episodes, according to Apple TV’s official announcement.

The new season follows Ted as he crosses back over the pond to the UK, this time taking charge of a second-division women’s football team at the same club he once coached, AFC Richmond.

Jason Sudeikis returns in the title role, joined again by Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift, all reprising characters fans have followed since the show’s 2020 debut.

The season also introduces several new cast members, including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, who will play members of the new women’s squad and its surrounding staff.

Behind the camera, Jack Burditt has joined the show’s writing and producing team as executive producer for the new season, working alongside Sudeikis and the returning group of executive producers and writers who built the show’s first three seasons.

Ted Lasso wrapped its third season in 2023 with an ending that many read as a series finale, sending Ted home to Kansas and closing out most of the show’s central storylines. Apple TV kept the door open for more, and the streamer confirmed the fourth season’s return earlier this summer.

The show became one of Apple TV’s signature original series, winning multiple Emmy Awards during its first three seasons and helping establish the platform as a serious player in prestige comedy. Its return this week gives Apple another marquee title to anchor its fall programming slate as competition among streaming services for scripted hits continues to intensify.
