The Indian smartphone market is preparing for a notable shift in the budget-performance segment as Vivo prepares to pull the curtain back on its latest T-series offering tomorrow. Scheduled for a midday reveal on March 17, the Vivo T5x 5G arrives with a clear focus on endurance and raw processing power, two pillars that have come to define this particular lineup.

While the T-series has historically played second fiddle to the more design-centric V-series, the T5x seems to be carving out its own identity through sheer utility. The centerpiece of the device is a 7,200mAh battery, a capacity that pushes past the current 5,000mAh industry standard and even eclipses the 6,000mAh units we have seen recently.
This move toward extreme battery life targets a specific demographic of heavy users, particularly those engaged in long-session gaming or mobile streaming who cannot always remain tethered to a wall outlet. Beyond the hardware, the internal shift to the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo chipset suggests a performance-first approach.
Preliminary data shared by the company points to an AnTuTu benchmark score exceeding one million, a figure that typically signals a smooth experience for demanding applications. To complement this, Vivo has integrated software features like 4D game vibration and a specialized game voice changer, further leaning into the device’s appeal as a mobile gaming tool.
Durability also sees a significant jump here, with the T5x carrying IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. This is a substantial leap from the IP64 rating found on the previous T4x, suggesting the phone is built to survive more than just a light splash.
Visually, the device takes cues from the more expensive V70, featuring a clean rear panel and a familiar camera module layout. It will be available in Cyber Green and Star Silver, though the premium aesthetics come with a projected price increase. Teasers indicate a price point under Rs 23,000, placing it well above the introductory price of its predecessor.

As the device hits Flipkart and other retail channels, the real test will be how that massive battery affects the phone’s ergonomics and weight. For now, it represents a significant bet on the idea that for many users, longevity and power are the ultimate luxury.
