The Xiaomi Thinner Power Bank has officially entered global markets with a body measuring just 6mm thick. The UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W was first introduced in Japan earlier this year and later showcased at MWC 2026 in Barcelona.

At only 98 grams, it is slimmer than most modern smartphones, including current flagship models. Xiaomi is positioning the device as a lightweight, everyday backup charger rather than a high-capacity brick.

Ultra-slim 6mm body with silicon-carbon battery

The Xiaomi Thinner Power Bank carries a 5,000mAh battery inside a frame comparable in thickness to a stack of credit cards. Xiaomi uses a silicon-carbon battery with 16 percent silicon content to increase energy density without increasing size.

The outer shell is built from aluminum alloy. The phone-facing side features fire-resistant fiberglass with an excimer coating to help manage heat. Xiaomi also integrates a graphite heat dissipation layer measuring 4,369mm².

Wireless charging reaches up to 15W when paired with compatible Xiaomi smartphones. For iPhone users, speeds are capped at 7.5W due to MagSafe limitations. A USB-C port supports up to 22.5W wired charging and allows dual-device charging.

Ten layers of protection are built in. These include safeguards against overvoltage, overheating, short circuits, and foreign object detection. Dual temperature sensors monitor heat levels in real time.

Portability over raw capacity

The 5,000mAh capacity will not fully recharge most flagship smartphones. However, it is designed for short top-ups during travel, commuting, or long workdays.

Early hands-on impressions suggest usable output may be slightly lower than some thicker competitors with similar ratings. Efficiency losses are expected in ultra-thin battery designs. Xiaomi has not positioned the device as a heavy-duty charger.

The device launched in Japan at roughly 50 US dollars. European pricing starts around 60 euros, with a premium color option priced slightly higher. It is now available in select markets across Asia-Pacific and Europe.

The Xiaomi Thinner Power Bank signals a shift in accessory design priorities. It favors portability and refined build quality over maximum capacity, offering a practical solution for users who want backup power without bulk.

FYI (keeping you in the loop)-

How thin is the Xiaomi Thinner Power Bank?
