Lexus is giving the NX a substantial mid-cycle update. The 2027 model brings a new hybrid system, revised exterior styling and a cabin that looks markedly different from today’s SUV.
The changes reach well beyond a new grille or wheel design. Lexus has reworked the dashboard, center console and driving position. It has also made structural changes aimed at reducing noise and sharpening steering response.
For the NX 350h, Lexus is introducing its sixth-generation hybrid system. The updated model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electronic continuously variable transmission.
A new lithium-ion battery takes design cues from the unit used in the ES 350h. Lexus says it is lighter than the battery it replaces. Engineers also revised its cooling system as part of the update.
The larger change comes with the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid. Its battery grows from 18.1 kWh to 23.0 kWh. Lexus says that raises electric driving range from 37 miles to 62 miles.
The NX 450h+ produces a combined 303 horsepower in European specification. Lexus says it can reach 62 mph in 6.3 seconds.
A non-hybrid NX remains part of the range. That version continues with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder producing 275 horsepower.
The exterior adopts a revised version of Lexus’ Vital x Tech design theme. Up front, there is a frameless spindle grille and redesigned headlights. The rear receives a revised taillight arrangement using repeated L-shaped elements.
F Sport models return with their own details. These include newly designed 20-inch wheels, red brake calipers and additional rear-bumper aerodynamic treatment.
The bigger visual change sits inside.
A 14.0-inch infotainment screen now dominates the dashboard. It sits alongside a 12.3-inch driver display. Capacitive controls for climate functions and cameras are positioned above the air vents.
Lexus has also lowered the seating position without replacing the seat itself. The company says the change moves the driver closer to the vehicle’s center of gravity.
The steering wheel is smaller too. Its diameter has been reduced by 0.39 inches, while its telescopic adjustment range has increased. Lexus also revised the accelerator pedal and steering response.
Less visible work has gone into the body and cabin structure.
Lexus says a reshaped engine block helps control noise and vibration. Additional sound-absorbing material has been fitted around the rear bumper, rear doors and center pillars.
According to Lexus, those changes reduce engine and road noise by around 20 percent. Floor rigidity has increased by around 25 percent.
The front suspension tower has also been integrated more closely with the front pillar structure. Lexus says that change increases rigidity in the area by 30 percent.
The refreshed NX is scheduled to reach Europe in early spring 2027. Lexus has not announced US launch timing or pricing for the updated model.
For comparison, the 2026 NX 350h starts at $46,570 in the United States, including a $1,395 destination charge. The 2026 NX 450h+ starts at $59,505.
The NX may still be a relatively young model, but Lexus has treated this update as more than a cosmetic exercise. The new cabin and hybrid hardware are where buyers will notice the biggest difference.
