Ray-Ban Meta Japan availability now includes Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Oakley Meta smart glasses, giving the market new wearable products built around cameras, open-ear audio and Meta AI. Meta said the products became available in Japan from May 21, while ITmedia reported the launch details and local prices.

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 includes a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and can record video at 3K Ultra HD resolution. Meta lists a battery life of up to eight hours for the second-generation model, while the glasses use open-ear speakers so users can hear surrounding sound.
ITmedia reported that the glasses can be activated with a voice command to take a photograph. The camera can also import captured images into the Meta AI application. The report said translation at launch could recognise foreign signs and menus and provide spoken Japanese translations.
Oakley Meta is offered in HSTN and Vanguard designs aimed at active use. ITmedia said both models include the 12-megapixel camera and 3K recording, with open-ear speakers and water resistance. The Vanguard model also adds dust resistance.
Meta said prescription-compatible options are available, while ITmedia reported several Japan-specific design details, including replaceable nose pads and adjustable temple lengths. The reported Japanese prices start at 73,700 yen for Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and rise to 96,580 yen for Oakley Meta Vanguard.
The launch includes a privacy indicator: ITmedia said the device LED must illuminate when photographs or video are being recorded. Meta and the Japanese report also described future translation and LINE integration work as features whose timing could depend on later updates.
