Google AI glasses are being prepared for entry into the market with Android XR-based Intelligent Eyewear, with a launch planned for later this fall. Google’s Android XR announcement describes two product types: audio glasses and display glasses, both designed to use Gemini for assistance in everyday situations.
The company said its Android XR work is being developed with Samsung and Qualcomm. Google also named eyewear partners Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The audio-glasses category is expected to launch later in the fall, while the announcement did not provide a final retail date for every model.
Google’s description places Gemini at the centre of the experience. The assistant is intended to support voice-based help through the glasses, while display models can present information in the user’s field of view. The exact capabilities will depend on the product and the software available in each market.
Tom’s Guide reported that Google is positioning the effort against Meta’s existing smart-glasses business. Its report said Google is working with Samsung, Warby Parker and Gentle Monster on devices powered by Android XR, confirming the partner structure described by Google.
Privacy is a major part of the product discussion. The Google announcement says the company is building Android XR with controls and user choices in mind, while Tom’s Guide framed the launch around avoiding problems associated with cameras and recording in public spaces.
Google has not yet published a complete list of prices, countries or final hardware specifications for every Intelligent Eyewear product. The confirmed information is the Android XR foundation, Gemini integration, partner strategy and the expected fall timing for audio glasses.
