Acer EP130K brings a touch ePaper screen to desktop work

By Tarek HasanSeptember 6, 20262 Mins Read

Acer has announced the EP130K, a portable ePaper monitor designed for reading, writing and long periods of focused work. The company introduced it at its next@acer press conference in Berlin on September 2 during IFA 2026.

Acer EP130K

The monitor is built around a 13.3-inch ePaper panel with a paper-like, glare-free viewing approach. Acer says it can show both color and black-and-white content, giving users a way to change the display mode for different tasks.

The panel reaches up to 3,200 by 2,400 pixels at a 60Hz refresh rate in black-and-white mode. The color mode uses a lower 1,600 by 1,200 resolution at 60Hz. Acer also lists 4,096 colors and a 20-millisecond gray-to-gray response time for the display.

Touch input is part of the design. The screen supports a stylus as well as finger input, so users can annotate documents or draw without adding a separate writing tablet to the desk. Android Authority described the monitor as a product aimed at professionals, readers and mobile users who spend long periods looking at screens.

A single USB-C cable supplies power from the host device to the low-power panel. Acer says the screen uses bistability, which allows a static image to remain visible even after power is removed. That feature suits documents and pages that do not need constant animation.

The EP130K includes a mini-HDMI port, two USB-C ports, speakers and an audio connection, according to the company’s product information. It is positioned as a second screen rather than as a replacement for a conventional high-refresh display.

Acer plans to sell the EP130K in North America in the first quarter of 2027, starting at $749.99. The company lists a starting price of €749 in EMEA and AUD 1,499 in Australia for the same period. Regional specifications and availability may differ.

The announcement makes the EP130K a display product for people who value low-glare reading and direct writing input. Its value will depend on how well the ePaper panel handles each user’s mix of documents, color work and moving content once retail units become available.
