Acer Predator XB273K V7 switches from 4K detail to 500Hz speed

By Tarek HasanSeptember 6, 20262 Mins Read

Acer has announced the Predator XB273K V7, a 27-inch gaming monitor that changes its resolution and refresh rate through Dynamic Frequency and Resolution technology. The monitor was part of Acer’s IFA 2026 display lineup announced in Berlin on September 2.

The panel runs at 4K resolution with a 160 Hz refresh rate in its native mode. Acer says the DFR system can switch the display to Full HD and raise the refresh rate to 500 Hz for games where responsiveness matters more than detail.

This arrangement gives the monitor two defined uses. High-resolution mode is suited to detailed games and general desktop work. The faster Full HD mode reduces the number of pixels the computer must render, making the higher refresh rate easier to reach on compatible hardware.

Acer’s launch material lists the XB273K V7 among displays that support its new anti-tear and variable-refresh features. The company also gives a North American starting price of $449.99 and says the model will arrive there in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Regional availability differs. Acer lists a fourth-quarter 2026 launch in EMEA from 449 euros, a fourth-quarter China launch from 2,999 renminbi and an Australian release in the second quarter of 2027 from 899 Australian dollars.

Tom’s Hardware reported that the XB273K V7 sits between Acer’s 1,000 Hz Full HD esports monitor and its higher-end QD-OLED models. That distinction matters because the V7 is not a 500 Hz 4K monitor. The 500 Hz figure applies after the display switches to Full HD.

The two modes also create a practical hardware tradeoff. A PC that can handle 4K at 160 Hz may still need different game settings to reach 500 frames per second at Full HD. The monitor’s value depends on whether a player wants both types of use.

Acer has confirmed the model and regional pricing, but the company says exact specifications may vary by market. Buyers should check the local product page before assuming that every port, stand feature or display mode is included in every region.
