Apple‘s next-generation iPhone lineup is still some distance away, but a new report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has offered an early look at several hardware specifications expected across the iPhone 18 family.

According to the information shared by Kuo, Apple is preparing the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e with 9GB of RAM, a configuration that stands out because of the way it is reportedly being assembled. Rather than relying on four 2GB memory dies, as expected in the iPhone 17 series, the two upcoming models are said to use six 1.5GB dies.
While the arrangement appears unusual, the reported capacity would still represent an increase over the 8GB of RAM associated with the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17e. The report indicates that the additional memory is intended to support Apple Intelligence and help the company’s artificial intelligence features operate more smoothly.
The same report outlines a more substantial memory upgrade for Apple’s higher-end devices. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra are all said to be equipped with 12GB of RAM. Those models would reportedly use eight 1.5GB memory dies to reach the higher capacity.
Processor details were also included in the leak. Kuo claims the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will be powered by Apple’s A20 chip. The premium models, including the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra, are expected to feature the more advanced A20 Pro processor.
The report arrives as attention remains focused on Apple’s future hardware plans and the role additional memory could play in supporting increasingly demanding software features. Although the claimed specifications remain unconfirmed, the details provide an early indication of how Apple may differentiate its mainstream and premium devices within the iPhone 18 lineup.
For now, the information remains limited to the specifications outlined in Kuo’s report. Apple has not announced the devices referenced in the leak, and no additional details were provided regarding design changes, pricing, or release plans beyond the reported spring launch window for the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.
As with all pre-release information, the reported specifications offer only a snapshot of what may be under consideration, leaving the broader picture of the iPhone 18 family to emerge over time.
