Amazon Web Services announced a suite of new AI agent capabilities at its “What’s Next with AWS” 2026 event in June, with additional updates rolling out through July. The cloud platform is positioning itself as the infrastructure provider for enterprise AI agents that can handle complex workflows without human intervention.

AWS introduced Amazon Quick—an AI assistant for work with a desktop app and expanded integrations—and launched four agentic AI solutions for supply chain, hiring, customer experience, and healthcare. The company is betting that enterprise customers want AI agents built on infrastructure they already trust rather than standalone AI services.
Bedrock Expansion and OpenAI Partnership
AWS expanded its partnership with OpenAI, bringing GPT-5.5, Codex, and Managed Agents to Amazon Bedrock in limited preview. This move lets enterprises build AI applications using OpenAI models without switching cloud providers. Customers access the models through AWS’s security, compliance, and governance frameworks.
AWS also expanded Amazon Bedrock AgentCore with new capabilities: connecting AI agents to organizational knowledge bases and web data, surfacing production issues, and enforcing controls that scale with agent capability. The company is treating agent governance as a feature, not an afterthought.
New Security and Knowledge Services
AWS Continuum discovers, prioritizes, validates, and remediates security vulnerabilities using AI-native logic. Unlike traditional security scanning, which finds vulnerabilities passively, Continuum reasons about risk in context—which vulnerabilities matter given your specific infrastructure and threat model.
AWS Context provides a comprehensive knowledge graph so AI agents know where to find the information they need to answer questions or take actions. Without Context, agents hallucinate or fail silently. With it, agents ground their responses in organizational reality.
Strategy and Positioning
AWS is building infrastructure layers that other vendors can’t quickly replicate. Each service—Bedrock, Quick, Continuum, Context—reinforces the others. Companies investing in this stack get deeper AWS lock-in as their AI operations become dependent on these interconnected services.
AWS is turning infrastructure into competitive advantage by embedding AI governance, knowledge management, and third-party model access directly into the platform.
