Bangabandhu’s 102nd birth anniv celebrated at EU

ZOOMBANGLA DESK: Eastern University (EU) on Thursday celebrated the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day 2022 in a befitting manner.

On 17th March 1920, Bangabandhu, the vivacious leader of the Bangalee nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bangalee of all times, was born in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara village of the then Gopalganj sub-division, now a district. He was the third among four daughters and two sons of his parents –Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and Saira Khatun.

As part of 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu, the Eastern University authority arranged a Seminar & Cultural Program on 16th March.

Heroic Freedom Fighter Dr Md Samsuddoha Khondaker, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Eastern University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Engr. Khandakar Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, member and former Chairman of BoT was the Guest of Honor.

In his speech Dr Md Samsuddoha Khondaker said, `lots of secret meetings of Awami Legue were held at the house of my grandfather Khan Bahadur Shamsuddin Ahmed’s house at Keranigonj. Only for use to purpose of Bangabondhu, grandfather made a Pansy Boat. When the Pakistan government did any type of trouble with him, my grandfather used to send the boat to rescue him. There were 35 Rooms at my grandfather’s house. One highly secured room was reserved only for Bongobondhu.’

The Vice Chancellor (In-charge), Professor Dr Abbas Ali Khan Chaired the program. Registrar Dr Abul Basher Khan delivered the welcome speech. Among others Professor Dr Anwar Zahid, Dean of Law Faculty delivered the speech.

Deans, Chairpersons, Teachers, Officials and Students of all faculties were present at the program. The program was co-hosted by Abdullah Al Fahad, Lecturer of Business Administration and Jannatul Mawa Sunonda, student of the same department of Eastern University.

The official program was followed by a Cultural Program by the current students supported by Nakshikatha Band. The Students and guests were highly enjoyed their performance.
