The latest addition to Tecno’s Spark lineup has been introduced in India, marking the company’s continued push in the affordable 5G segment. The Tecno Spark 50 5G is set to go on sale from April 3, offering a mix of familiar design choices and a few upgrades aimed at everyday users.

At first glance, the device leans into a clean, modern look. A horizontal, pill-shaped camera module stretches across the back, built using 6-series aluminum, which gives the handset a slightly more refined finish than what is typically seen at this price point. Tecno is offering the phone in four colours, including Champagne Gold, Fantasy Purple, Ink Black and Mint Green.

The front is dominated by a 6.78-inch LCD panel. It carries an HD+ resolution, paired with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. Brightness is rated at up to 560 nits, which should be adequate for most indoor use and moderate outdoor conditions. The display design includes a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera.

Under the hood, the Spark 50 5G is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 chipset, built on a 6nm process. The octa-core processor is coupled with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Tecno is offering the phone in two configurations, with up to 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. There is also support for storage expansion via a microSD card slot.

Photography duties are handled by a single 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.85 aperture, accompanied by an LED flash. On the front, an 8-megapixel camera is available for selfies and video calls. The setup is straightforward, without additional sensors or lenses.

One of the more noticeable features is the battery. Tecno has included a 6,500mAh unit, which stands out in this segment. It supports 45W wired fast charging. The company has also included a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, along with IP64 Pro dust and water resistance and MIL-STD-810H certification.

The phone runs on Android 16 with HiOS 16 layered on top. Connectivity options include dual SIM support, 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi with 4×4 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pricing starts at INR 16,999 for the 4GB RAM variant, while the 6GB version is priced at INR 18,999. Sales will begin through Amazon India and Flipkart.

For Tecno, the Spark 50 5G appears to be a steady, incremental step rather than a dramatic shift. It brings together a larger battery and updated chipset while keeping the overall approach familiar.
