ZOOMBANGLA DESK: The Bangladesh Biman Corporation (repeal) Act-2023 was placed in the parliament with a view to bring amendment and reinstate Bangladesh Biman order-1972 enacted by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali today placed the bill in the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Placing the bill, the state minister said the proposed law will replace “Bangladesh Biman Corporation Ordinance, 1977”.
The existing Bangladesh Biman Corporation Ordinance 1977 is no longer needed as it is a public limited company, he said.
The draft of the new ‘Bangladesh Biman Corporation (Repeal) Act-2023’ has been approved in principle, he told the parliament.
The state minister urged the House to send the bill to the concerned parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny within 30 days. (BSS)
