Speculation around casting changes in Don 3 has been put to rest, with sources confirming that Hrithik Roshan was never approached to replace Ranveer Singh in the upcoming sequel.

The clarification comes after weeks of industry chatter suggesting a possible shift in the film’s lead. According to a source cited by Hindustan Times, the reports are unfounded. “It is not true, Hrithik was not approached to star in Don 3 after Ranveer came on board,” the source said, directly addressing the rumours.
The same source also shed light on the film’s early groundwork. Director Farhan Akhtar had already begun pre-production preparations well before the speculation gathered pace. Location scouting was underway in 2025, from the last week of August through early September, indicating that the project had been moving ahead behind the scenes.
Despite those preparations, principal production has not yet begun.
The uncertainty around the film intensified in December, following the release of Dhurandhar, when Ranveer Singh exited Don 3. His departure marked a significant turn for the project, which had already entered planning stages.
A source quoted by Pinkvilla claimed that Ranveer advanced the shooting schedule of another film, Pralay. Meanwhile, Variety reported that Excel Entertainment is seeking ₹40 crore in compensation, citing financial losses incurred during pre-production and planning.
There are also indications that the production house has asked several departments associated with the film to look for other work, suggesting a pause in active development.
The matter has since reached the Producers Guild of India, which has convened two mediation meetings between the concerned parties. The second meeting took place on February 7 at Mumbai’s Taj Lands End.
Those present included Aamir Khan, Sidharth Roy Kapur, and Ramesh and Kumar Taurani. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani attended on behalf of Excel Entertainment.
For now, the project remains in limbo. While rumours continue to circulate, the confirmed position is clear: Hrithik Roshan was not in discussions for the film, and formal production on Don 3 has yet to commence.

As conversations continue behind closed doors, the future course of the sequel depends on the outcome of ongoing discussions rather than speculation.
