East Bengal Women Reach AFC Champions League Group Stage

By Rithe RoseAugust 24, 20262 Mins Read

East Bengal’s women’s team has reached the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026-27 group stage after beating Malaysia’s Sabah FA 2-0 in the final match of Preliminary Stage Group A. The search phrase East Bengal AFC Women’s Champions League points to this qualification result.

The Asian Football Confederation reported that second-half goals from Olivia Anokye and Soumya Guguloth settled the match at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu. East Bengal finished at the top of Group A with maximum points.

The result gives the Indian club another place in the competition’s main group phase. It also confirms the team’s progress from a preliminary group that included Sabah FA, Rovers FC of Guam and Bangladesh’s Rajshahi Stars FC.

India’s public broadcaster News On AIR separately reported the same qualification result and described East Bengal’s victory as a place in the main draw. The two reports identify the match result and the qualification as the confirmed developments.

The group-stage place follows a decisive final preliminary match rather than a direct invitation. East Bengal’s players had to secure the result against Sabah before the competition could move the club into the next phase.

The AFC has not yet provided the full group-stage schedule in the match report. The club’s next opponents, dates and venues will be determined through the competition process, while the current result records East Bengal’s qualification and its unbeaten preliminary campaign.
