Google’s next fitness wearable is heading to Indian shelves. The company’s screenless tracker, the Fitbit Air, is set to launch in India in October, according to a report from ETV Bharat published Thursday.
The device has already surfaced on Amazon India, where a listing spotted by BusinessToday showed a price tag of roughly Rs 17,380. Earlier trade estimates had pointed to a lower band, somewhere between Rs 13,499 and Rs 16,999, so the final number could still shift before the official announcement.
Globally, Google sells the Fitbit Air for $99.99, or close to Rs 9,500 at current exchange rates, and bundles in a three-month trial of Google Health Premium. The gap between that global price and the numbers showing up on Indian retail listings is wide enough that Google may adjust pricing locally, or import duties and taxes could be doing most of the work.
The Fitbit Air is built without a screen, a design choice Google has leaned into to keep the band small and light. It tracks workouts, monitors heart rate through the day, logs sleep stages, and uses AI-powered coaching to suggest recovery and activity targets. Battery life runs up to seven days per charge, and the tracker pairs with both Android and iOS phones, unlike some past Fitbit hardware that leaned harder on Google’s own ecosystem.
The India launch would mark one of Fitbit’s most direct pushes into the country’s fast-growing wearables market, where budget brands from Noise to boAt already compete hard on price. A sub-Rs 20,000 Fitbit, if the Amazon listing holds, would put Google in a tougher fight against premium rivals like the Apple Watch SE and Samsung’s Galaxy Fit line rather than the budget end of the market.
Google has not confirmed an exact launch date or final Indian pricing. The October timeline and the Amazon listing remain the clearest signals so far, and both could change before the device officially goes on sale.
