Background
Speaking on the sidelines of the Jaipur Literature Festival, Vir Das commented on the scale and box office expectations of happy patel khatarnak jasoos. Using humour to describe the productionâs size, he said the filmâs budget was smaller than the catering cost of Aditya Dharâs Dhurandhar, calling it one of the smallest releases currently in theatres.
Despite its modest scale, Das said the team was pleased with the opening response. He noted that the film exceeded initial expectations and described it as a âniche, absurd comedy.â Highlighting the importance of the weekend, he added that the early audience reaction has been encouraging and that the team is satisfied with where the film stands.
In its first two days, happy patel khatarnak jasoos has shown a slight upward trend at the box office, collecting Rs 2.75 crore nett so far. While occupancy remains limited, the makers view the performance positively, given the filmâs small scale and niche appeal.
