Harlan Coben’s “I Will Find You” is available on Netflix today, June 18, marking the first time a Coben adaptation has been set in the United States after more than a dozen previous series that were all filmed in the UK or Europe.
All eight episodes drop at once. The miniseries stars Sam Worthington as David, a man wrongfully imprisoned for the murder of his young son who receives word that the child may still be alive. The cast also includes Milo Ventimiglia, Britt Lower, Chi McBride, Clancy Brown and Logan Browning.
The series is adapted from Coben’s 2023 novel of the same name. Coben serves as executive producer and has been deeply involved in the production, as he has been on each of his Netflix adaptations. The shift to the United States is a notable change of setting — all previous Coben series, from “Safe” to “The Stranger” to “Stay Close,” were produced in British locations even when the original novels had American settings.
Netflix has built a reliable franchise around Coben thrillers. Each adaptation follows a broadly similar formula: an ordinary person discovers a life-threatening secret, and the twists escalate rapidly over six to eight episodes. The formula works. Each previous series has performed well enough for Netflix to keep commissioning new entries, and fan engagement on social media is typically strong in the hours after each new drop.
The timing gives “I Will Find You” a strong launch position. It arrives on the same day that Toy Story 5 reviews are still dominating entertainment coverage, with families focused on the June 19 Juneteenth opening. The Netflix series offers adult viewers a clear alternative for the holiday weekend.
Worthington is best known for the Avatar franchise and his role in Terminator Salvation. Ventimiglia is well recognized from “This Is Us,” where he played the lead for six seasons. The two leads bring a different kind of recognition profile than Coben adaptations have typically relied on in the UK, where domestic TV actors dominated the casts.
For streaming context, The Bear’s final season arrives on June 25 on Hulu, meaning streaming audiences have a rich week of new content ahead. House of the Dragon Season 3 premieres on June 21 on HBO, adding yet another major premiere to what is becoming one of the busiest weeks in streaming of the year. The full series is available on Netflix now.
Whether “I Will Find You” maintains Coben’s record of delivering reliably watched Netflix thrillers in its new American setting will be answered quickly. Early screening reactions have been positive, though a full sense of the audience response will emerge over the holiday weekend.
