Huawei has begun rolling out a February 2026 feature update for the Watch GT 6 series to users outside China, expanding a firmware package that appeared first for home-market devices.
The broader push surfaced after a Reddit user shared details of a new build for the Watch GT 6 line. Based on the build digits, the user described it as a global release, with a download size listed at 50.51MB.
What arrives with this update is less about one headline addition and more about day-to-day polish. Huawei is positioning it as a practical upgrade that touches how messages are handled, how the watch talks to nearby devices, and how certain workouts behave when accessories drop off mid-session.
On messaging, the firmware adds options aimed at reducing noise without fully disconnecting from notifications. Users get new controls to mute notifications and set what Huawei calls smart reminders, suggesting a tighter grip on what gets surfaced on the wrist and when.
The update also introduces remote shutter support for compatible Android phones, though Huawei notes the experience can vary depending on the device. For outdoor cycling, the setup screen now shows the bike type, a small touch that matters when youâre trying to confirm settings quickly before starting a ride.
Workout reliability is part of the focus as well. Huawei says the watch can now automatically reconnect accessories that disconnect during an exercise session, a common frustration for anyone using add-ons during training.
Beyond features, the company is also pushing optimizations. Huawei says it has improved distance accuracy for open water swimming, adjusted the display of certain interfaces, and improved system stability under specific conditions.
As with many Huawei rollouts, the update is arriving in batches, so not every Watch GT 6 owner will see it at the same time. Huawei says users can check the Huawei Health app if they want to attempt a manual installation once it becomes available for their model.
For existing owners, this is the kind of update that may not change how the watch looks on day one, but itâs likely to be felt over weeks, in quieter notifications, steadier connections, and fewer small interruptions during workouts.
