After years of speculation around Apple’s entry into foldable smartphones, fresh supply-chain chatter suggests the wait may finally be nearing an end. A new leak indicates that the long-rumoured foldable from Apple could debut later this year, potentially addressing one of the most persistent concerns associated with foldable displays — the visible crease.

The device, widely referred to as the iPhone Fold, is said to be moving into production, according to information shared by tipster Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo. While the company itself has not confirmed any plans, the post claims that production orders are already underway, signalling that development may be in an advanced stage.
The most notable detail in the leak concerns the display crease. The inner screen is reportedly expected to feature a crease measuring just 0.15mm. In practical terms, that would mean the fold line is barely perceptible during use, both visually and to the touch while scrolling.
Crease depth has long been a technical challenge in foldable smartphones. A deeper indentation often becomes more noticeable over time, particularly after repeated folding. A shallower measurement suggests a flatter panel and a smoother transition across the hinge area.
The same source indicates that the crease angle could remain under 2.5 degrees. A lower angle typically reflects a more seamless fold, rather than the sharper bend that tends to form in some devices after prolonged usage. If accurate, the engineering focus appears to be on long-term durability and user comfort rather than cosmetic refinement alone.
The leak also claims that pricing will be “conservative,” though no figures were disclosed. For context, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 currently sells for just under Rs 1.75 lakh in India. It remains to be seen whether Apple would position its foldable in a similar bracket.
Earlier reports have suggested that the foldable may launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, while the standard iPhone 18 could arrive separately early next year. None of these timelines have been formally acknowledged.

For now, the details remain limited to supply-chain disclosures and tipster claims. Still, the mention of production activity and specific display measurements points to a product that may be further along than many had assumed. Whether Apple’s first foldable ultimately meets expectations will only become clear once the company speaks for itself.
