There is early movement around a possible sequel to Jawan, with indications that Shah Rukh Khan may return to the franchise once he completes work on his upcoming film King. The development, cited in a report by India Today, points to ongoing groundwork behind the scenes rather than any formal announcement.

The original film, directed by Atlee, was one of the most commercially successful Hindi releases in recent years. Its closing moments had already left room for continuation, something that now appears to be taking clearer shape.
According to the report, a script for Jawan 2 has been under development for some time and was recently finalised. A source quoted in the report suggested that Khan is expected to begin work on the sequel after wrapping up his commitments to King, a project currently in production under the direction of Siddharth Anand.
The first instalment brought together a wide ensemble, including Nayanthara in a lead role and Vijay Sethupathi as the antagonist. There are early indications that the makers may again look south for a prominent face to play the film’s primary villain, although no names have been confirmed.
When Jawan released in 2023, it drew strong audience response across markets. The film recorded a net collection of Rs. 640.25 crore in India and reached Rs. 1,160 crore worldwide, placing it among the year’s biggest earners. Alongside its leads, the film featured appearances from Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, and several others.
For now, attention remains on King, which is scheduled for release in December 2026. The film carries a large cast, including Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, and Jaideep Ahlawat, among others.

No official confirmation has been issued on Jawan 2 so far. Still, the suggestion that the project has moved past the scripting stage places it closer to reality than speculation alone. For audiences who responded strongly to the first film, that possibility is likely to hold attention in the months ahead.
