Industry chatter around a sequel to Jawan has resurfaced, this time with a clearer direction. Reports indicate that Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Atlee have been quietly developing Jawan 2, with the script now said to have received the actor’s approval.

The development follows months of speculation after the strong theatrical run of Jawan in 2023. While neither the actor nor the production team has formally confirmed the sequel, the latest updates suggest that groundwork has been underway for some time, rather than a recent decision driven by box office performance.
According to the same set of reports, Khan is expected to begin work on the sequel only after completing King, an upcoming action film directed by Siddharth Anand. That project is already in production and carries a large ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Raghav Juyal, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukerji. The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 24 this year.
Atlee, meanwhile, is currently engaged with another large-scale production, Raaka, headlined by Allu Arjun and also featuring Deepika Padukone. A recently unveiled first-look poster for that film drew a favourable response across social media platforms, suggesting steady momentum for the director outside the Hindi market as well.
Details about Jawan 2 remain limited. However, there are indications that the filmmaker may once again look to cast a high-profile antagonist, following the casting of Vijay Sethupathi in the original film. No names have been officially linked so far.
The first Jawan, which also featured Nayanthara alongside Khan and Padukone, went on to become one of the most commercially successful Hindi releases in recent years. It also marked a notable milestone in Khan’s career, earning him his first National Award.

For now, Jawan 2 remains in the planning stage, with timelines dependent on the completion of ongoing commitments from both its lead actor and director. Any formal announcement is still awaited, leaving the project in a space familiar to the industry—widely discussed, but not yet publicly confirmed.
