John Wick Game Expands Franchise Into Interactive Prequel

Keanu Reeves is set to return to one of his most recognisable roles, this time in digital form. The billion-dollar action franchise built around the world of John Wick is being adapted into a video game, with Reeves lending both his voice and likeness to the project.

The announcement came during PlayStation’s recent State of Play showcase, where an early trailer offered a glimpse of polished visuals and tightly choreographed combat. Much of the immediate reaction online focused less on graphics and more on the small nods to the films — subtle callbacks that long-time viewers were quick to identify.

Development is being handled by Saber Interactive, which has worked closely with franchise director Chad Stahelski. The studio says that collaboration was key to ensuring the tone and action align with the cinematic universe audiences already know.

For now, the project carries the working title “Untitled John Wick Game,” which reflects how much remains under wraps. No release date has been confirmed. The game is planned for PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. There has been no indication of a Nintendo release, and given the adult-oriented tone of the films, that seems unlikely at this stage.

Story details are limited. What has been shared suggests the game will serve as a prequel, set before the events of the film series. Beyond that, specifics about the narrative remain undisclosed. From the footage shown, however, the emphasis appears firmly on close-quarters combat and stylised action, echoing the franchise’s signature fight choreography.

Matthew Karch, chief executive of Saber Interactive, described the partnership with Stahelski and Reeves as an honour, saying the goal is to bring the world of Wick to life in an interactive setting. Lionsgate President of Global Products Jenefer Brown highlighted the effort to translate the brand’s distinct combat style into gameplay, calling it “brand-defying fight choreography.”

Reeves is no stranger to video games. He previously appeared in Cyberpunk 2077, where his digital likeness became a talking point among players and modders alike.
