Monster Hunter Wilds will receive a new major update on February 18, just days before the game marks its first anniversary. Capcom confirmed the update will introduce new high-difficulty quests, anniversary rewards, crossover content, and quality-of-life improvements.
The update arrives as Monster Hunter Wilds approaches its one-year milestone on February 28, closing out the game’s first full content cycle. Capcom has also confirmed that a large-scale paid expansion is now in active development.
February 18 Update Brings New Endgame Challenges
The centerpiece of the February update is the arrival of Arch-Tempered Arkveld. The monster will appear as a 10-star Event Quest, placing it among the most demanding hunts currently available in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Alongside Arkveld, four previously released Arch-Tempered monsters are receiving new 10-star versions of their quests. These encounters increase health, damage output, and overall combat pressure, pushing coordinated play and mastery of weapon mechanics.
Capcom is also adding a high-difficulty multi-monster slaying quest. The quest is designed for endgame players and offers improved drop rates for high-rarity Old Charms, giving veteran hunters a new incentive to refine builds and chase optimal skills.
Anniversary Events and Community Content Added
To mark the game’s first anniversary, players logging in after the update will receive a special item pack. The contents are intended as a thank-you for long-term players rather than a power boost.
The update also introduces weekly rotations of past seasonal events. These rotations allow players to revisit earlier Gathering Hub themes and limited-time content that was previously unavailable, restoring activities from across the game’s first year.
Community-created content is also being folded into the update. Winning entries from the Monster Hunter Wilds Weapon Design Contest have been added, including a new Great Sword and a Charm obtainable through Event Quests.
Crossover With Monster Hunter Stories 3
A crossover event tied to Monster Hunter Stories 3 is another major addition. The collaboration introduces side missions featuring Royal Felyne Liddy and Support Hunter Nariya.
Completing these missions rewards themed Palico equipment and Charms inspired by the upcoming spin-off title. The crossover aligns with the planned release of Monster Hunter Stories 3 on March 13, 2026.
The update also includes a special event quest focused on hunting the game’s least-targeted monster. The goal is to encourage variety in hunts while offering unique rewards.
Large-Scale Expansion Confirmed for Monster Hunter Wilds
Alongside the update announcement, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that a major paid expansion is currently in development. The expansion is described as comparable in scale to Iceborne and Sunbreak.
No gameplay details or release window were shared, but Capcom stated that a formal reveal is planned for Summer 2026. This confirms that Monster Hunter Wilds will continue to receive long-term support beyond its first year.
The February 18 update closes the first chapter of Monster Hunter Wilds while setting the stage for its next evolution. With tougher hunts, returning events, and an expansion on the horizon, the game’s future roadmap is now clearer.
