Motorola Confirms Android 17 Eligibility for 50+ Phones

By Sadia Afrin JoyaAugust 12, 20262 Mins Read

The Motorola Android 17 update is now confirmed for more than 50 phones, after the company published which devices qualify. The lineup spans the premium Razr foldables, the mid-range Edge series, the budget-friendly Moto G models, and the Motorola Signature.

Unlike some rivals, Motorola does not publish one master list of eligible phones. Instead, the company updates software details on each device’s individual support page, according to reporting from Gizmochina and Android Authority this week.

Priority is going to Motorola’s newest hardware. The Razr 70 series, Razr 60 series, and Edge 70 lineup are set to receive the update first, ahead of older and cheaper models. The company has already begun the stable rollout, with the Motorola Edge 2025 the first device to receive it.

Android 17 brings Google’s latest platform-level changes, layered under Motorola’s own Hello UI software skin. Motorola has not detailed every feature change specific to its build. The update generally carries the security and performance improvements Google ships with each major Android release.

Software availability will vary by device, region, and carrier, Motorola noted. Being on the eligibility list does not guarantee every owner receives the update on the same day. Budget models further down the list may not see Android 17 until sometime in 2027, according to earlier reporting on the rollout schedule.

The confirmation comes as rival Android makers push their own Android 17 timelines. Samsung began beta testing Android 17 through One UI 9 on its Galaxy S26 series earlier this year. Google has already shipped the stable build on its own Pixel devices.

Motorola’s approach means owners of older Moto G handsets are likely to wait the longest, a pattern the company has followed in past update cycles. Devices that launched more recently, particularly those sold as flagships, have historically received Motorola’s fastest turnaround from Android beta to stable release.

For Motorola owners, the practical step is simple. Check the software update section under device settings, or the company’s support page for the specific model, to see when Android 17 is scheduled to arrive. Motorola’s pace echoes its recent rollout of the Edge 70 Neo’s Android 17 beta, spotted in leaks earlier this week.
