Nothing OS is moving to a staged Android 17 rollout, with the Phone (3) first in line and older devices excluded from the major update. Nothing’s current OS 5.0 page lists the open-beta and general-release windows by model, while T3’s coverage explains how the schedule expands across the company’s newer phones and CMF devices.

The official page lists the Phone (3) open beta from August 26 and a general release in mid-October. The Phone (4a) Pro is listed for an early-September beta and early-November general release. The Phone (4a), Phone (3a) Pro and Phone (3a) are listed for late-September beta access and early-November general release windows.

The later part of the schedule is also specific. Nothing lists the Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus for mid-October beta access with a mid-November general release. The Phone (3a) Lite has no open-beta date and is listed for late December general release, while the Phone (4b) is placed in mid-December for beta and mid-January for general release. The company warns that the timings are indicative and can change by region or carrier.

Nothing also makes an important support statement: Phone (1), Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 have reached the end of major software support and will not receive Nothing OS 5.0. That is more useful to owners than a generic promise that an update is rolling out, because it identifies devices that should not wait for an installation notification.

T3 reported the same broad pattern, describing an open beta that begins with Phone (3) and expands to other models before the final release. Android Central reported that the stable version for Phone (3) was expected in mid-October. Both outlets also treated the rollout as staged rather than as a single global switch.

Owners should read the word beta carefully. Nothing says the open-beta software can contain bugs or affect stability, battery life and performance. The company recommends backing up photos, contacts, messages and call logs before installation. A beta schedule is therefore an invitation to test, not a guarantee that every user should install immediately.

The current Nothing OS update picture is clear on eligibility but not locked to one universal day. Phone (3) leads, newer models follow in phases and three older devices are excluded. Users should check Nothing’s official page and regional support instructions for the latest timing before changing software on a personal phone.
