OPPO is launching the Reno 16 series on July 2 in India and July 3 in Indonesia, Thailand, and the UK. The global rollout is staggered but compact—all major markets get the phone within three days. The base model is expected to start at around 59,999 Indian rupees, roughly $720 USD, making it a mid-premium offering.

The Reno 16 runs a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phone packs a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,800 nits peak brightness, making it readable in direct sunlight. A 6,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging handles power.
The Display and Performance
The screen’s 120Hz refresh rate is becoming standard on mid-range phones now, but OPPO has tuned this one specifically for scrolling smoothness and gaming responsiveness. The brightness at 1,800 nits is industry-leading for this price range. Colors look natural without oversaturation. Response times are quick.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is plenty fast for everyday use. App launches are snappy. Multitasking between several apps feels effortless. Gaming works fine up to mid-tier titles. Heavy 3D games might drop frames, but that’s expected at this price.
Camera System
The dual rear camera setup uses a 50MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization—a feature many competitors skip at this price. Video recording works at 4K 30fps, with electronic stabilization taking over when optical is maxed out. The 50MP selfie camera handles video calls without artifact noise.
Night mode is where the Reno 16 shines. A computational photography stack that OPPO calls “Night Vision” brightens low-light shots without making them look fake. It’s not as good as flagship night modes, but it’s competitive with phones costing $200 more.
Battery and Charging
The 6,700mAh battery should last a full day on moderate to heavy use. The 80W fast charging gets you to 50% in about 25 minutes. No wireless charging, which is a fair tradeoff at this price point. The phone weighs 175 grams—light for its size, which matters if you hold it in one hand.
The Reno 16 launches July 2 in India and rolls out globally within days. For mid-range buyers who want brightness, performance, and a good camera, this is worth the wait.
