Panasonic has warned customers in Japan that deliveries of the newly announced Panasonic Lumix L10 could face delays after the company received what it described as a far higher number of pre-orders than expected ahead of the camera’s release next month.

In a notice published by Panasonic Japan, the company said demand for the compact camera had exceeded internal forecasts before the scheduled June 18 launch. The statement added that some customers who had already placed pre-orders may not receive their cameras on release day, while future orders could also ship later than planned.
The company did not indicate how long delays might last and did not mention whether customers in other regions would be affected. The notice was issued specifically by Panasonic Japan, although the announcement has drawn wider attention because Panasonic’s global headquarters are based there.
All three color variants of the Lumix L10 are affected by the supply warning, according to the company’s statement.
The strong early demand arrives at a time when premium compact cameras have become increasingly difficult to find in stock across several brands. Cameras that combine relatively large image sensors with portable designs have seen renewed interest in recent years, particularly among enthusiasts looking for an alternative to smartphone photography.
The Lumix L10 enters a crowded but active segment of the camera market. Panasonic has positioned the model between compact cameras using one-inch sensors and larger APS-C models, equipping the L10 with a Micro Four Thirds sensor and an optical zoom lens.
That zoom capability is one of the camera’s more distinctive features in the current premium compact category. While several popular models favor fixed focal lengths in exchange for slimmer designs, Panasonic has combined zoom functionality with a built-in electronic viewfinder and physical controls, even if that results in a larger body compared with some rivals.
The camera also includes built-in color profiles and support for customizable LUTs, features that have become increasingly common among creators and photographers looking for more direct control over image styling without relying entirely on post-processing software.
Panasonic announced pricing for the Lumix L10 at £1,299 in the UK, $1,499 in the United States, and AU$2,599 in Australia. A Special Edition Titanium Gold version is scheduled to begin shipping in July at slightly higher prices, including $1,599 in the US and £1,399 in the UK.

For now, Panasonic’s challenge appears less about generating interest and more about keeping pace with demand before the first shipments leave warehouses next month.
