Panasonic has warned customers in Japan that deliveries of its newly announced Lumix L10 compact camera may be delayed after pre-orders significantly exceeded the company’s expectations ahead of the model’s scheduled release next month.

In a notice issued by Panasonic Japan, the company said it had received a far greater number of reservations than initially forecast. As a result, some customers who have already placed pre-orders may not receive their cameras on the official June 18 release date. Panasonic also indicated that new orders placed from this point forward could face shipping delays.
The company did not provide an estimate for how long the delays might last. It also did not say whether customers in other markets would be affected, limiting its statement to the Japanese market where the notice was published.
According to Panasonic, all three color variants of the Lumix L10 are included in the supply warning, suggesting that demand has been strong across the entire product lineup rather than concentrated on a single version.
The response from buyers comes as premium compact cameras continue to attract attention from photographers seeking dedicated cameras that offer greater creative control than smartphones while remaining relatively portable. Across the industry, several models in this category have experienced periods of limited availability as demand has remained steady.
Panasonic has positioned the Lumix L10 in a segment that sits between traditional one-inch sensor compact cameras and larger APS-C alternatives. The camera features a Micro Four Thirds sensor paired with an optical zoom lens, a combination that distinguishes it from several competing premium compact models that rely on fixed focal length lenses.
The inclusion of zoom capability is one of the camera’s defining characteristics. Panasonic has also equipped the model with a built-in electronic viewfinder and physical control dials, features that appeal to photographers who prefer a more traditional shooting experience. Those additions contribute to a larger body than some compact rivals, reflecting a different balance between portability and functionality.
The Lumix L10 also includes built-in color profiles and support for customizable LUTs, tools that have become increasingly popular among photographers and content creators looking to apply specific visual styles directly within the camera workflow.
Panasonic announced pricing for the Lumix L10 at £1,299 in the United Kingdom, $1,499 in the United States, and AU$2,599 in Australia. A Special Edition Titanium Gold variant is expected to begin shipping in July, carrying higher prices in several markets, including $1,599 in the United States and £1,399 in the United Kingdom.
