Xiaomi has returned to its T-series lineup less than a year after the previous generation, introducing the Xiaomi 17T Pro with a familiar design approach and a handful of targeted hardware upgrades aimed at keeping the device competitive through 2026.

The new model arrives as a direct follow-up to the Xiaomi 15T Pro and, at first glance, the changes are measured rather than dramatic. Xiaomi appears to be leaning on refinement instead of redesign, keeping much of the hardware formula that helped the earlier model gain traction in the upper mid-range segment.

At the center of the update is MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500 chipset, built on a 3nm process. The processor replaces the Dimensity 9300+ used in the previous Pro model and sits above the Dimensity 8500 powering the standard Xiaomi 17T. The move positions the 17T Pro closer to flagship territory in terms of raw performance, while still remaining outside Xiaomi’s highest-end smartphone line.

Battery capacity has also seen a noticeable increase. Xiaomi has fitted the 17T Pro with a 7,000mAh battery, significantly larger than the pack used in the earlier generation. Wired charging has been raised to 100W, up from 90W previously, while 50W wireless charging support remains in place. The phone also introduces 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing it to power smaller devices directly through a cable.

The device keeps much of the hardware foundation established by its predecessor. It uses a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, HDR10+, and a resolution of 1280 by 2772 pixels. Xiaomi has also retained the IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, along with Gorilla Glass 7i protection on both the front and rear panels.

Camera hardware remains largely unchanged, continuing with a triple rear setup led by a 50-megapixel main sensor. The system also includes a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and optical image stabilization, alongside a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor. Video recording support extends up to 8K at 30 frames per second.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro ships with Android 16 and HyperOS 3. Storage options range from 256GB to 1TB, paired with 12GB of RAM and UFS 4.1 storage technology.

Physically, the device closely resembles Xiaomi’s recent Poco-branded releases, particularly the Poco X8 Pro Max and Poco F8 Ultra. The overlap is difficult to miss, with the three devices sharing several hardware elements and design decisions. That internal competition may leave buyers weighing value differences more carefully within Xiaomi’s own portfolio.

Inside the retail box, Xiaomi includes a USB-C to USB-A cable and a matte silicone protective case. The company notes that the 100W charger will not be bundled in some regions, including parts of Europe.

The Xiaomi 17T Pro does not attempt to reinvent the T-series formula. Instead, it builds on a design and hardware package that Xiaomi already knows works, adding a newer chipset and a much larger battery while keeping the broader experience familiar for returning users.
