Poco M8 Power 5G launches in India with 8,000mAh battery

By Soniya ChowdhuryAugust 5, 20262 Mins Read

Poco launched the M8 Power 5G in India on August 5, positioning the budget phone around a large 8,000mAh battery and a 120Hz AMOLED display at a price aimed squarely at first-time 5G buyers.

The phone starts at Rs 24,999 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version, while the 8GB RAM model costs Rs 27,999. With bank offers and launch-day discounts, Poco says the effective starting price drops to Rs 21,999.

The M8 Power 5G goes on sale through Flipkart starting August 7, timed to coincide with the platform’s Flipkart Freedom Sale event.

On specifications, the phone carries a 6.83-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits. It runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel dual rear system and an 8-megapixel front camera. Poco is leaning heavily on battery life as the phone’s headline feature, packing an 8,000mAh cell with 45W fast charging support.

The phone ships with Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and carries an IP65 rating for dust and splash resistance. It supports 5G in both standalone and non-standalone modes, alongside 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.1.

The launch adds to a crowded field of sub-Rs 25,000 5G phones in India, where Poco competes directly with Redmi, Realme and Samsung’s M-series for budget-conscious buyers upgrading from 4G devices. Battery capacity and display quality have become key differentiators in this segment as chipset performance converges across competing models.

The M8 Power name continues a lineage Poco has used on past high-battery variants in India, a market where the brand has built its identity around aggressive pricing rather than flagship features. Analysts tracking the Indian smartphone market say sub-Rs 25,000 5G devices remain the fastest-growing price band in the country, making the segment a priority battleground for Xiaomi’s sub-brand ahead of the festive shopping season later this year.
