Range Rover Electric is moving from a long-running product promise toward production, with Jaguar Land Rover highlighting the work being done at its Solihull facility in the United Kingdom. The company describes the vehicle as a new chapter for its luxury SUV line rather than a separate brand experiment.

JLR says Solihull has been transformed with advanced manufacturing equipment, digital technology and new electrification skills. That preparation matters because a battery-electric Range Rover must be built to the same quality expectations as the company’s combustion and hybrid models while meeting different safety and assembly requirements.
The new vehicle is also part of JLR’s broader plan to give Range Rover, Defender and Discovery customers a choice of propulsion systems. The company says those brands will offer mild-hybrid, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or battery-electric options before the end of the decade, while Jaguar follows a separate all-electric path.
A luxury EV is judged on more than acceleration. Owners expect a quiet cabin, strong climate control, dependable software and a charging system that fits long-distance travel. An electric Range Rover also needs to preserve the seating position, storage and all-weather confidence that define the name.
JLR has highlighted a Battery Digital Twin that uses more than 900 diagnostic data points for each Range Rover Electric. Combined with over-the-air software capability, the system is intended to support proactive maintenance. Digital monitoring can help, but it does not replace physical inspection or a clear service network.
Production preparation gives potential buyers a more useful signal than a concept reveal. It shows that the company is spending money on tooling, training and factory processes. The final price, range, charging figures and equipment still need to be confirmed for each market before customers can judge the vehicle fairly.
Range Rover Electric arrives as traditional luxury automakers adjust to a mixed-powertrain market. JLR is keeping several propulsion choices open while introducing a flagship battery model. The result will depend on how well the electric version combines premium comfort with the practical demands of a large SUV.
