A new mid-range smartphone from Samsung is being positioned around something less visible than performance charts or headline features. With the Galaxy A57, the company is leaning into a quieter promise: dependability in everyday use.

That approach is reflected in research commissioned by Samsung UK, which points to a familiar strain in daily life. One in five adults in the UK say they feel genuine stress when their phone battery runs low. Losing internet connection unsettles even more people, with two-thirds reporting anxiety in those moments. On average, users encounter at least two tech-related frustrations each day.

The Galaxy A57 appears designed with those habits and pressures in mind. Its most prominent claim is battery life, with Samsung stating the device can last up to two days on a single charge. It’s a figure that speaks less to peak performance and more to reducing the need for constant attention to charging.

Camera performance, traditionally a compromise in this price segment, is another area Samsung is seeking to improve. The device combines upgraded hardware with background software optimisation aimed at handling varied lighting conditions. That includes everything from bright outdoor settings to dim indoor scenes and fleeting moments where timing matters more than technical perfection.

Samsung has packaged its software features under the label “Awesome Intelligence.” While the name carries the usual marketing tone, the tools themselves are described as focusing on practical use—supporting productivity and refining photos in ways that are not always immediately visible but develop over time.

Long-term software support is also part of the offering. The company says the Galaxy A57 will receive six generations of operating system updates alongside six years of security patches, a level of commitment that remains uncommon in mid-range devices.

Annika Bizon, Vice President of Mobile Experience at Samsung UK, framed the device in broader terms of value. She noted that how users measure a phone has shifted beyond the upfront cost, pointing instead to how reliably it performs over time.

The emphasis suggests a different kind of competition in the smartphone market—less about standing out in a launch moment, and more about remaining consistent long after that moment has passed.
